Hickson 57 - Copeland's Septet (Leo)

(fritz kleinhans)

Hickson 57, Copeland's Septet
March 7/8, 2016, Chiefland, FL.

TAK 250 CDK with f/7.3 focal reducer; fl = 1825 mm.
Cooled, modified Hutech Canon 6D, ISO 800, 0.74 "/pixel.
(the scope only covers an APS-C chip, so with the full size 6D
chip there is a lot of vignetting  around the field edge.  Flats fix this but increase the noise around the edges.)
AP 1100 Mount, 50mm f/5 Borg Guidescope, Lodestar and PHD2, dithering.
7.5 min subs x 22 = 165 min  (6 of 28 rejected).
22 lites, 5 darks, 3 flats; captured in BackYard EOS and processed in Image Plus and Picture Window 7.

North is to the right.  Below is a cropped view of just Copeland's Septet.

Anonymous Galaxy Cluster

There is a small galaxy cluster in the wide field photo, top.  It's location is marked here.
Clicking brings a blow up of this region, rotated with N up, and the corresponding SDSS9 image.  This is
too faint to be an Abell Cluster.  It is MAXBCG J174.55285+22.36098; see next page.
