There is no formal text book for this course. I will be handing out all the material you need and copies may also be downloaded from this BYA web site.
If you asked me to suggest a book for this course, I would say NightWatch by Terence Dickinson. It is written at the level of this course and covers many of the same topics. I got my copy at a local bookstore a few years ago. It is in its third edition, so used copies may be easy to find.
There also is a book titled 'The Backyard Astronomer's Guide', by Terence Dickinson and Alan Dyer. This is an excellent book, but at a more advanced level than our course. If you continue on in astronomy, I can recommend it.
There are, of course, many excellent books on astronomy. I recommend going to Barnes & Noble or Borders and looking over their selection. Find one that is just right for you.
